Latest company news about Scene wise selection in touch screen corner design

Touch screens are increasingly becoming daily necessities, whether it's smartphones, tablets, dazzling advertising screens in shopping malls, self-service checkout machines at supermarkets, self-service ordering at restaurants, etc., bringing a lot of convenience to life.

As the hardware capital, Shenzhen produces many touch screens like our factory every day and sends them to various parts of the world. After years of experience in supplying touch screens, we have found an interesting point that customers in different regions have vastly different preferences for corner design.

The European and American markets prefer rounded touch screens designs. Last year, when we supplied a German car brand, their designer insisted on a precise arc radius of 2.5mm, because they wanted to make their fingertips feel silky smooth. Behind this obsession with details is actually a profound accumulation of ergonomics. Rounded corners can indeed provide a more natural touch guidance, and when the user's finger slides in from the edge of the screen, it flows smoothly like a stream merging into a lake.

But in the Asian market, the right angle design of touch screens is experiencing a revival. With the popularity of the full screen concept, right angled borders can create a higher screen to body ratio visual effect. The touch screen of the vending machine we developed for our Japanese customers adopts a "micro right angle" design, which maintains a modern feel while chamfering the edges by 0.1mm, avoiding cutting hands and retaining a tough appearance.

Choosing in special environments is more interesting. Last year, after intense discussions, an offshore drilling platform project ultimately chose touch screens right angle design. This is because rounded screens create larger gaps when installing explosion-proof enclosures, while the right angled structure can perfectly fit the seal. On the contrary, the smart mirror products used in the gym have rounded corners as standard, as no one wants to be scratched by the edges of the screen while lifting iron.

Material matching is also a key consideration. When using metal frames, rounded corners can weaken the cold and hard feeling of the metal; When paired with glass panels, right angles can highlight the transparency of the material.
