The working principle of PCAP touch screen

 

When we use a finger or other object touches the PCAP touch screen, the touched position is detected by the touch screen controller firstly. Next it will be sent to the CPU through an interface (such as RS-232 serial port) to determine the input information.

 

The surface of the capacitive touch screen is coated with a transparent conductive layer ITO, and the voltage is connected to the four corners. A small direct current is scattered on the screen surface, forming a uniform electric field. When touching the screen by hand, the human body acts as one pole of the coupling capacitor, and the current is collected from the four corners of the screen to form the other pole of the coupling capacitor. The controller calculates the relative distance between the current and the touch position to obtain the coordinates of the touch.

 

The composition of PACP touch screen

 

A touch screen system generally consists of two parts: a touch screen controller (card) and a touch detection device.

 

The main function of the touch screen controller (card) is to receive touch information from the touch point detection device, convert it into touch point coordinates, and then send it to the CPU. It can also receive commands from the CPU and execute them. The touch detection device is generally installed at the front end of the display, mainly used to detect the user's touch position and transmit it to the touch screen control card.
