Latest company news about What is a Touch Screen Panel?

Touch Screen Panel, commonly known as a touchscreen, is an electronic display screen that allows users to interact with devices by directly touching the screen. It is both an input device and an output device, and users can control the device by clicking, sliding, or pinching the screen with their fingers or stylus. Touch screen panels are widely used in devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, ATMs, self-service terminals, etc., and have become an indispensable part of modern technology.

Working principle of touch screen panel
A touch screen panel consists of multiple layers, including a display layer (such as LCD or OLED) and a touch sensitive layer (used to detect user input). When a user touches the screen, the touch sensitive layer records the contact information and sends it to the device's processor, which converts the touch into a specific operation, such as opening an application or entering a message.

Types of touch screen panels
There are various types of touch screen technology, each with its own working principle and advantages and disadvantages:

1. Resistive touch screen panel:
Structure: Composed of two flexible layers coated with resistive material, separated by a small gap in between.
Working principle: When pressure is applied, the two layers come into contact and the touch point is detected.

This resistive touch screen has low cost and can be operated with fingers, a stylus, or gloves. However, the clarity and durability are relatively low.

2. Capacitive touch screen panel:
Structure: Use a layer of capacitive material to store charges.
Working principle: When a conductive object (such as a finger) touches the screen, it will interfere with the electrostatic field, thereby determining the touch position.

Capacitive touch screen with high definition, supports multi touch, and strong durability. But it cannot be operated with non-conductive objects such as gloves.

3. Infrared touch screen panel:
Structure: Infrared LED and photodetector array are used at the edge of the screen.
Working principle: When an object touches the screen, the infrared beam is interrupted to calculate the touch point.

This infrared touch screen is very durable and supports large-sized displays. But the cost is high and it is sensitive to environmental factors such as dust and sunlight.

4. Surface acoustic wave touch screen panel:
Structure: Utilizing ultrasonic waves to propagate on the surface of the screen.
Working principle: When the screen is touched, sound waves are absorbed to detect the touch location.

This surface acoustic wave touch screen has high image clarity and strong durability. But the cost is high and the usage is limited.

Application of touch screen panel

Touch screen panels are widely used in the following fields and devices:
Consumer electronics: smartphones, tablets, laptops, and game consoles.
Retail and hotel industry: point of sale systems (POS), self-service terminals, and digital menus.
Industrial and Medical: Mechanical control panels, medical equipment, and diagnostic tools.
Public services: ATMs, ticket vending machines, and information inquiry terminals.
