What is chemical tempering of PCAP touch screen panels?

At Xinlilai Touch, as a source factory specializing in the research and production of PCAP touch screens, LCD screens, and touch monitors, we deeply understand the importance of glass substrates. Today, we will delve into an essential key process in the manufacturing of capacitive touch screens - chemical tempering.
What is chemical tempering? Simply put, it uses a chemical reaction called "ion exchange" to give ordinary glass stronger "bones and bones". We immerse the cut and polished touch screen glass substrate into a specially formulated salt bath (such as potassium nitrate molten salt). In high temperature environments (usually over 400 degrees Celsius), sodium ions on the surface of glass will "migrate", while larger potassium ions in molten salt will "embed" into the surface of glass to fill the gaps. This process reshapes the molecular structure of the glass surface, forming a dense layer of compressive stress.
The significant advantages brought by chemical tempering of PCAP touch screens:
1. Greatly improved resistance to impact: Glass that has been chemically tempered has significantly increased surface hardness and impact strength. This is crucial for protecting the precision LCD display layer and touch sensor components inside.
2. Excellent scratch resistance: Worried about keys, gravel, and other hard objects scratching the screen? The hard surface formed by chemical tempering can effectively resist such scratches, keeping the screen smooth and new for a long time, enhancing the user experience and the durability of the product appearance.
3. Strength improvement with unchanged thickness: Unlike physical tempering that requires thicker glass, chemical tempering can significantly enhance its strength and bending resistance without increasing the glass thickness. This is of great significance for modern electronic devices that pursue extreme thinness.
4. Stable and reliable performance: The formed compressive stress layer is very stable and not easily degraded over time, ensuring that the product can maintain reliable protective performance throughout its entire lifecycle.
At Xinlilai Touch, we strictly control the chemical tempering process of each capacitive touch screen. From the selection of salt bath formula, precise temperature control to the optimization of soaking time, every step has been repeatedly validated to build a solid protective barrier for your end products.
